Together

People come together through concept. Things are not done without conception. With innovation and thought comes trend and culture, which groups people under a variety of material objects and values. We all associate ourselves to certain cgroups and cultures an ddefine ourselves through these

Alone

I feel alone sometimes, like people don't understand me. But everyone feels alone at one point or another. it's funny that out of all people in the world, and out of all the people you interact with he only person you trully know is yourself, and sometimes that's not even the case. I heard a stat that people "live" in their head about 98% of the time as opposed to speaking to someone else. That isolation and constant state of self can be beneficil or detrimental. It'd be crazy to see everyones thoughts dreams and fantasies, but I think thats a reason we stay in our head so much, to shield them away from people .

Save the Earth, Do This!

Recycle, thrift, bike, eat less, shorter showers, and saving paper are all good activities and examples of reducing your carbon footprint and becoming a more concious and responsible person. Do your part in helping preserve the Earth and restore damage done to it

Invisible

Many people in highschool make themselves invisible by putting on projections or masks. Most people do this because they're uncomfortable with themselves and self concious

A Book To Read

A good book to read would be Black Boy by Richard Wright. It's one of the best books I've ever read, and it's prominence culturally and socially makes it one of the best books in American literature. It has many similarities to the book Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison in the experiences in the book, and how it depicts blcks at that time period. (1930's-1940's)

Art Review

Hebru Brantley is a artist from Chicago's South Side who has a new gallery up in Seattle (intresting city) called "Lions Disguised As Lambs". Hebru does walls, illustrations, and paintings and is widely coveted for his ranges in style and skill, and implementing his ethnic roots in his works. Several of his wall pieces are up at the store Leaders, I've had the oppurtunity to see them multiple times. A lot of his drawings are inspired by Japanese techniques such as magma. There is substance in mostly all of his works, dealing with race, culture, and value. His range of talent is unparallel to the majority of artists I've experienced. He had a gallery at the Zhou. B Art Gallery previously dubbed "Afro Futurism (Impossible View)" . Check him out, support local artists, ecspecially ones that are good.

We Have The Right

We have the right to demand a more transparent and open government in most instances. We have a right as consumers to know everything about what we eat. We have  the right to a open organ market, to several things that would run on and on if continued. There needs to be a Sean Bell street in every major city in America for police brutality awareness and to commemerate a loved one. Police should only patrol areas they live(d) in. There should be a anti-FBI month every year to look at travesties comitted. If there's a war there should be a requirement for the amount of elected officals family going to the war. etc

McCarthy's Birthday Week

Happy belated birthday from a belated blog entry.I have enjoyed the class and have learned a lot from it

X Is Known

Malcolm X is revered as one of the most influental people and greatest minds of the 20th century along with the likes of Che Guervara, MLK, Huey Newton, and so many others. One thing all of the people I named shared a central belief/goal; they all fought for equality of their people and people in general. We need more men like that in the world now, ecspecially with the turmoil we see aroound us; the political oppression and uprising in Libyia, massive economic problems, exploitation in so called "3rd world countries." There will always be problems but to me it shows how vital Malcolm X and these men were, and it's intresting that the government was somehow involved in all of their deaths. (They all were spied on by the US government and many believe the government had a hand in all of their deaths: CIA helped capture and kill Che and FBI created lies to turn black leaders against eachother in the case of Huey Newton) It just seems that there is not many great leaders left in our world than eras past, and I wonder how drastically diffrent our world would be today if all of these great inspirational men were alive today. I sometimes think one conversation with any of them I would learn more than all of my years of school. RIP to these leaders

X Marks The Spot

Malcolm X died exactly 45 years ago the day I'm writing this. He died February 21st, 1965 by the hands of his own people, the people he fought and would ultimately die for. He represents perserverance, personal salvation, and enlightenment to the fullest. He was honest and geniune to the utmost in his teachings and to himself. He didn't stand for injusticies, instead he tried to empower and enlighten Blacks in America. He never minced words, and was no one's puppet. He was a man who stood against injustice and preached this for the betterment of people in the struggle. He is an international icon, and he definitely deserves more recognition today. He fought for what he believed and he valiantly seeked knowledge, wisdom, and truths and we need more people/leaders like that today. The story and life of Malcolm X is relatable to everybody regardless of race or gender, and everybody should be aware of him and learn from him. RIP

Album (Mixtape) Review

I have never really heard of Kendick Lamar until last night when I was on various indie/blog sites and I happened to come across one of his works Overly Dedicated. It has a unique cover artistically that was appealing. The backdrop is composed of images of influential people throughout the 20th century; Bruce Lee, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson, etc. The composition of the female body reminds me of Middle Eastern culture and her head is morphed for a galactic/ nature object, which is dope. The Compton MC gave a well composed mix tape that had more of an EP feel based off the effort and focus of concept that went into it. The mix tape had a soulful Cali neo feel to it, the good production from top to bottom helped convey that. The lyrics flow nice with the melodies of the tracks and it is easy to listen to. The lyrics are decent for this underground artist. He has no catchy punch lines or really clever or slick metaphors, the highlight for him is probably lyrical content and his easy smooth flow music you could cruise too or light up to (haha) he can change it up nicely as well (the tempo of his flow) samples are nicely laid throughout. Overall I'd give it a B for it's top to bottom quality, and it's refreshing to find new music like this. The production was strong throughout and that's why I enjoyed it, I think hip hop heads should check it out

I Know This Means Something

I know the blog means something, it's a creative tool that lets us express ourselves. I should take it it more serious, I'm going in on the blogs this semester though, pipe smoker style. We have good entry topics left, so I hope I get good feedback from somebody from this site. It's a good tool to use and I'll start taking it more serious because all it is, is making our thoughts/ideas public

Ultimate Recipe

One thing I can make really well is milkshakes. I don't make them often, but when I do I make an Oreo shake. I first put in vanilla ice cream, around three scoops, and then I add milk until it is a little less than even with the ice cream. I put in four Oreo cookies and a little bit of choclate syrup. The secret ingridient to make it great is to put a pinch of cinnamon on the top and blend.

Good Food Review (Good Fridays)

A good food review i have to share is the unbeatable KFC lunch special that I've devised. Transportion courtesy credited to Sebastian Machenski. The $3.17 meal that includes two snackers (barbecue/buffalo) and two biscuits. And ask for a courtesy cup and fill it with the juice/soda cof your liking. This is the economist's dream, great filling food for cheap. Hot fresh chicken and biscuits cant be beat homey, you must be driven by Sebastian tho' or your food experience won't be right, you have to listen to the Waka Flocka Myers intro on the way there as well it completes the process, it makes everything better

Winter Poem (Brr)

The time of year when everything grows cold,
Winds and moods alike,
The ground freezes and the wind scolds,
The Holidays roll aroud to ease the pike
